This is a documentary film about how people feel
about the news of the world today and what future
they would like to see. Interview based, it gets the
opinions and feelings of a diverse range of people.
This is the foundation of my practice; getting to
know people, understanding more, and working
with them to tell stories.
I am fascinated about how people feel about
their everyday interactions with the world and
what this can reveal about the state of politics,
society and the potential for where the future is
going. Throughout my degree I have explored
small and quiet stories in different ways. This
documentary actualises the research work of my
dissertation, that is, looking into visual work that
creates socially aware positive futures as opposed
to the irony and deconstruction that is prevalent in
postmodern pieces of media. Basing my work in
peoples personal emotional experiences allows for deeper connection with audiences and effective
communication across difference cultures, spaces
and time.
My work in the future will continue in its ethical
grounding and humanist stance. I will explore
stories that look at the big questions and the
mundane, collaborating with people to create
photography and films that all the aspects of what
life is like on this planet.
